IspH converts HMBPP into DMAPP
IspH is an essential enzyme in the methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathway, catalyzing the final step that converts 4-hydroxy-3-methylbut-2-enyl diphosphate (HMBPP) into a 5:6 ratio of isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP). This ratio is later adjusted to 3:7 by the enzyme isopentenyl-diphosphate Δ-isomerase.
